Having used Windows for sometimes up to 14 hours a day the past 20+ years for business and pleasure, it never occurred to me to switch to a Mac until I saw the iMac 24” for the first time back in October 2006 - I just had to have it. Admittedly the fact that the new Mac’s have Intel processors and hence able to run Windows natively gave me the added comfort of being able to change my mind and just have a really pretty machine running Windows.

After having used Windows for many years - you get used to re-booting, re-installing, hanging applications, pop-up alerts with various warnings - not to mention viruses and spyware - in fact you hardly even get upset about, you just re-boot (as that is the remp fix for all problems) and wait for the time it takes to get back to what you were working on - if it is still there that is.

With Mac it is a different experience altogether - you actually get to spend nearly all your time using the computer for what it was intended to be used for - and not just trying to figure out why something is not working. In short - it just feels right. The reason I said “nearly” is because I tend to get carried away trying out new things on my Mac all the time including exploring the bundled applications such as Photo Booth, iCal, iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, Garage Band and of course iTunes which I knew from my Windows days.

On this site I intend to share some of the things that I have experienced switching to Mac from Windows and how it is impacting on my life moving forward - considering I use a computer heavily every day. I will also be covering Mac related stories that I find news worthy as well as tips, hints and tricks that I come across.

This is my first first Season using a Mac and for now it seems to be the first of many!
