Apple is moving its’ retail space into China starting tomorrow. It will the first official Apple store in the country, and looks quite impressive so far. The build will be situated in Beijing, at the Sanlitun entertainment district. The store will open at 10 AM.

Apple is looking to expand into China even further, saying they will be adding more stores in Beijing, Shanghai and beyond. The store will have almost the exact same features of other Apple stores. One big highlight missing when the store opens will be the iPhone. Apple is still in talks with China’s primary wireless provider to lay out plans for the introduction of the iPhone. The largest obstacle will be implementing the 3G iPhone as China has no standard 3G network as of now.

The 32 GB iPod Touch will be available when the store opens, which will retail for 4,488 Chinese yuan (USD $647.33). This will be a story to keep an eye on going into next week, to see how successful Apple is with their first official foray into the Chinese market.

Is It Really Lonely At The Top?

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Turning on the news without seeing something about our failing economy is about near impossible these days. Apple, unlike the overall economy is all smiles after they posted their first fiscal quarter earnings.

While just about every electronics company is smiling after the holidays, Apple’s grin is even bigger as they have posted improvement is nearly every single one of their product lines. Posting a net quarter profit of $1.58 billion compared to last year’s $1 billion, it’s safe to say Apple is going strong into the new year. Apple shipped over 2 million mac computers this year, representing an impressive 44% unit growth. Mac desktops represented the largest unit growth while iPods posted a 5% unit growth, and 2,315,00 iPhones were sold in the quarter.

iPhone adverts
So it is official - the  iPhone will be in the market on June 29th as stated in the new TV commercials just released by Apple.

In the advert it is also stated “Only on the new at&t - use requires minimum new 2 year activation plan” so I guess that closes the speculation on unlocked versions for now.

The common theme across the adverts is a demo-style where you get to see just what iPhone can do that other phones cannot and how you use it.

Check them out for yourself from Apple’s site.
