VideoLAN version 0.8.6 has just been released with a number of bugfixes as well as some great new features including support for Windows Media Video 9 and Flash Video – to my knowledge not even Flip4mac can play back Windows Media 9?

VideoLAN is a Free Software and Open Source multi-platform video streaming solution. It also features a cross-platform multimedia player, VLC, which can be used to read the stream from the network or display video read locally on the computer.
